Consort? What a lush that was😂
Blast from the past! Hundreds of pubs are now long gone. I remember the big guy who once ran the Prince Consort. A tall Caribbean looking guy who had been a wrestler (apparently). Owned a big American limo. Saw a few bands in there. Bush Country was one!
My Mother and Aunty worked on restoring the bar in the Black Horse pub. They knew the owner at that time.
This is the problem of proud Americans that have ranks. If this co's could have been black the whites should have been sent to military court for bullying and other cases.
Withy trees now a madraser soon the lane ends will disappear 30years ago wow you could not beat preston for a night out NOW the only advice to any young person in preston is save yourself and run away from preston as fast as your legs will take you make a fun life for yourself somewhere else you will just rot and grow old and you will just have regrets. It is now BORING ........
Welll... Everybody was welcome, except for the Germans....
The second battle of bamber bridge was the No M65 campaign of the 90s. Bit o a militant place ont quiet.
I remember the summers
not lived in preston for many many years, a lot i used to know when younger there died of alcoholism or drugs
I'm from here born and raised but moved to somewhere else at teh age of 11
Gay school
Strange that they were unable to get *ANY* dashcam footage, from all those hundreds of motorists, of Nicola walking to her demise that day?
Thanks for visting are small town its great ive been living here my whole life its great
Hey Brits - how's the immigration thing going for you?
You should reword the "Hey Brits" To "Hey Europe" " Hey USA" "Hey Canada" 👍
Got nothing to do with your time?
3:10 thats not foxhill bank!
Can’t image how that poor driver was feeling 😮
Most countries would put up a footbridge. Not tight-as-a-ducks-b×tt Britaìn though....
You think that excuses this moron’s behaviour?
All that expense just to cater for blockheads!

Thank you for this, brought back a lot of memories...as an exiled Prestonian for over 40 years I enjoyed the nostalgia (I used to regularly go in the New Ship for music , recall Phil Cool making his first public appearances in the breaks, and the Theatre in the late 60s/early 70s). Although long living 80 miles away I still have a season ticket for the North End..I was recently asked by away supporters were they could go for a drink...and could not answer them. I do think many of the old pubs should be kept for historical reasons although if moving with the times (food/real ale etc) I believe there is still a future for them .

I can almost 'Smell' what it was like to enter these places ! . . . . . . . . . Strange, but i miss it. in today's 'sterile' controlled, lifestyle
10:08- In the early 1980's, i dated a girl who liked to drink 'Blue-Lagoons' (I hadn't heard of that concoction name, in 30yrs) I remember how buying a 'round' of drinks then, would quadruple the cost - just by asking for that drink, along with my usual pint Crazy !
Thanks for this - Brought back lots of memories !
Loved this. I was hoping you would show where the Rosebud Hotel was once situated at the bottom of New Hall Lane. My father ran the Rosebud from 1972 to around 1982. There where loads of pubs going all the way up New Hall Lane. Locals did a pub crawl of all these pubs at the weekends. The only one still standing is at the top of New Hall Lane, The Hesketh Arms. Would be lovely if you did a series on all the pubs in Preston that have disappeared. I would spread the word for I know many who would love to watch and listen.
lived😊
Spent 10 very happy years there , wish id never moved ...people are so kind there treat you like family
As a white British man. I'm so proud of the local people of Bamber Bridge and how they all stood up to the terrible racist bullying of the American MP's on that occasion. The locals insistence to side with those black American soldiers makes me feel so proud. I heard also, the main reason those 27 'convictions' were quashed was due to the level of outrage shown by the British people to the American diplomatic service here in the UK. There can never be any excuse for racism of any kind, anywhere in the 21st century. 🙋♂
Yeah right. How about the anti white British govt for you then. Are you prepared to fight for your people ?
I would like to suggest you do this video again, because the background noise of the traffic drowned out the ladies voices, and have you thought of interviewing some of the gentleman as well? Thank you. 😄
1. Great video, 2. I want that man to be my History teacher, lol
My Nana used to own the pub which is now called Cookcoo.
Who was Bamber Bridge named after?
I ask because my last name is Bamber
It isn't named after anyone; it comes from the Old English "bēam brycg" which means tree-trunk bridge
@@njujuznem6554 Interesting. Thanks.
I remember working in Do It All DIY store not far from the Old England and it was a known fact that shop lifters used to sell all the nicked gear in that pub😮
Spike Lee needs to make this to a movie.
Yep.. I agree
My dad was on the Jury for this case
preston is such a mess. even the evening post has gone bust.
Let's not forget.... The UK is the most racist country in the whole wide universe of all universes that have been and gone for all time
Stop....not true.
@@Greg-qy4lm don't worry, if sent of for a fresh batch of sarcasm for you
that's actually India that holds that title, and there are stats to back it lol
What a madman
Really informative, I learnt a lot about Preston which I didn't know, stories my Gran and mum would tell me, I loved the comment about Old Englund at 11:20 🤣, The Greyhound and the survivor Walter Pierpoint, I wonder if he was related to Albert Pierpoint?
Good Question - especially with such a unique surname
I want to come and live in Preston next year because it's not far from the sea got all the shops and I don't like big towns and cities I'm living in Birmingham 😮
Bro nearly got his existance wiped
....and a Darwin award.
Never in a million years, Sean. You are a lot braver than I am.
I go to this school yr 2
Oh this has aged well. Shame the journalists didnt actually do their job. 😂
I've only been in Preston for 5 years and enjoy spotting places that used to be pubs, but I didn't know some of these even tho I've looked at them many times. I assumed that there was a lot of "lost" pubs, but it seems like there was at least one on every Street.
Largest density of pubs in the country at one time, not sure which was the busiest for pubs but Meadow St would take some beating. My dad's mate lived on St Paul's sq and there was a pub every 50 yds it seemed.
This story should be known by everyone in the UK.
Yeah but it's not the narrative they want. If it was the other way around then yes... It would have been played to death on bbc
